Warranty Policy

Every engine, motor and piece of equipment we sell is supported by a warranty. This page explains what is covered, what is not, and how to make a claim.

1. Your rights under South African law

Separately from any manufacturer warranty, section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 gives you the right, for 6 months after delivery, to return goods that are not of good quality, are not fit for their intended purpose or are unsafe. In that case you may choose a repair, a replacement or a refund, at no cost to you. Nothing on this page limits that right.

2. What the warranty covers, by product

Cover varies by product type and condition:

  • Car and crate engines. New engines: 1–5 years or up to 160 000 km under the manufacturer’s warranty. Remanufactured engines: limited warranty of 12 to 36 months. Used engines: limited warranty of 30 to 90 days, depending on the unit.
  • Outboard motors. New motors: 3 to 5 year manufacturer’s warranty. Reconditioned units: limited warranty of 90 days to 1 year.
  • Welding machines. New units: 1 to 3 year manufacturer’s warranty. Refurbished units: 6 month limited warranty.

The warranty that applies to a specific item is shown on its product page and on your invoice.

3. How manufacturer warranties work in South Africa

Manufacturer warranties are honoured on the terms the manufacturer applies in South Africa, through its authorised South African dealer and service network. Warranty programmes, extensions or promotions offered by a manufacturer in another country do not apply to goods sold and delivered here. If you are unsure what cover a particular model carries locally, email us before you order and we will confirm it in writing.

4. What is not covered

  • Damage caused by incorrect installation or by user error.
  • Unauthorised modification, or use in racing or commercial conditions that were not disclosed.
  • Overheating, running low on oil, or neglect of fluids and servicing.
  • Cosmetic or surface damage.
  • Consequential costs such as towing, labour or downtime.

A warranty is void if the product is dismantled, altered or installed improperly.

5. Keeping your warranty valid

We register your item with the manufacturer and obtain warranty certification before it is dispatched. Please keep your invoice and delivery confirmation, have the product installed and serviced by a qualified technician, and keep your service records. We may ask for these documents when a claim is made.

6. Making a claim

To start a claim, email info@mr-autogroup.com with:

  • your order number;
  • the product name or model;
  • a description of the fault, with photographs or video where possible;
  • proof of installation and servicing by a qualified technician.

We will acknowledge your claim and tell you the next step, including where the unit must be assessed. Where a claim is valid we will arrange repair, replacement or refund in line with the manufacturer’s terms and your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
